An unfortunate fire incident, birthday lunch, spastic crash and burn, choir concert and hot date….just a few highlights from my week.

Let’s review.

SUNDAY & MONDAY-

Home sick. :(

TUESDAY-

Labor Day Weekend 2009 055

Spent the evening with Kylie, homeschooling.  We got most of our books and started on spelling and Idaho history.  I am amazed at how bright my daughter is.  It was nice to sit with her and work together.  I am looking forward to homeschooling her and getting to know her better in a different way.

After a long day, Kenny ran me a bath with rose petal bubble bath and candles.  The water was the perfect temperature.  I closed my eyes, leaned my head back and sighed as I sank into the sudsy water.  As I soaked a thought came into my head. **Huh.  What’s that strange crackling noise?**  About the time it registered, the smell hit me.  I sat up in a rush.  “Kenny, is my hair on fire?!!!”  Kenny looked at me and in a very unconcerned tone said, “Ya .”  You would think he would yell something to the effect of, “HOLY CRAP YOUR HAIR IS ON FIRE!”, but no.  I spastically started flipping water on my hair.  “Is it out?”   My darling husband replied, “nope.”  He then scooped up a huge handful of water and doused me and the fire.   I asked again, “Is it out?”  My husband replied, “Ya.  The flames were like 3 inches high.”  I wasn’t sure how bad my hair was but I had a hair appointment scheduled for Friday.  I just figured I might have to cut it short again.  Luckily when I washed my hair and dried it, the damage was minimal.  It only singed the ends of a small portion of hair.  Note to self: be aware of burning candles.

WEDNESDAY-

Caution-Falling-Signs-573019[1]

February 3rd is my mom’s birthday (see separate post).  I took my mom to lunch at Costa Vida.  The restaurant was packed for the lunch hour.  We set our food down and I headed across the restaurant to get our forks and napkins.  As I took a step forward, I landed on my heel weird and my leg went flying out from under me.  I tried to over correct and catch myself but had too much momentum.  I tried to stop the fall but in my head I knew…. **I am going down and it isn’t going to be pretty!**  This wasn’t a quick fall.  I was about 7 feet away from the window I eventually ran into.  I flailed my arms and legs as I propelled forward trying to stop the inevitable.  As the window loomed closer I went down on one knee and reached out to catch myself.  One hand slammed the wet floor sign into the window.  When the sign collapsed together the loud clap it made echoed through the restaurant.  **Oh crap! Now EVERYONE is going to look at me sprawled out on the floor** My other hand didn’t stop me as I cracked my head against the frame of the window and smashed my face on the glass.  I seriously felt my brain rattle around in my head when I hit.  It hurt.  But all I cared about was the 30+ people I KNEW were  staring at me.  **PLEAE, oh PLEASE, do not let all the employees come rushing over.**  I pulled myself into an upright position, squared my shoulders and slowly looked over my shoulder to the right where the employees were working.  To my surprise they were carrying on as usual. **AWESOME!! They didn’t notice!**  I slowly turned to the left and looked over my shoulder to the entire restaurant.  No one was looking at me…..except two hot men that looked like models.  Of course.  **How in the world did nobody HEAR THAT!?**  The men stared at me with startled expressions, the corner of their mouths twitching as they tried to suppress their smiles.  I walked back to my table and asked my mom to survey the damage.  I hit my head so hard I thought I had cracked it open.  Alas, no worries.  I was fine.   I do think I gave myself a mild concussion though.

I always think it is hilarious when people fall, so after I figured I would never see the two people that witnessed the embarrassing incident again,(knock on wood) I laughed about it.  In fact I would love to see if Costa Vida has a video of the fall.  That would be entertaining.

THURSDAY-

Kelsey was one of 11 alto singers chosen from her school to sing in the Honor Choir.   They took kids from each of the Junior High Schools.  The girls did such a good job and sounded so beautiful.

Of course, we both attended.  I had a wonderful evening with my husband and friends.  My husband is SO wonderful about taking pictures with me, as you will see below.

There is nothing I want more than...... a Snuggie

I don't understand why everyone thinks they are lame. I mean what's not to love about A BLANKET WITH SLEEVES!  It's genious!  As I type I am sitting wrapped up in a blanket WITHOUT SLEEVES.  My arms are cold.  I should have bought that Snuggie I saw at Smith's during Christmas for $11.99. Dang it!

Coming out of the closet.....

Admitting I have a problem is the first step.

My name is Tenae and I am a Twilight-holic.

I am still in denial because I was THE biggest Twilight hater EVER.

It's a long story and I had lots of reasons for not liking the series.  One of the biggest reasons was because everyone else liked it so much it was ANNOYING.  It made me want to punch people in the face. I know....I have anger issues. After I watched the first movie I was intrigued and decided to read the book and then I was done for. I flew through all four books and LOVED them.  My friends and family that I vented to about the books when I was a hater, were very kind and let me join the ranks of the Twihards.  I am still a closet fan.  I am only coming out because I have to post the AWESOME pics from our night out to see New Moon....which takes me to a whole different level of obsessed, closet fan of Twilight.  I mean, I went to the midnight premier.  MIDNIGHT! I am an old lady!  That is WAY past my bedtime. And not only did I go to the midnight show but I also bought tickets to go see Twilight at 9pm.  So embarrasing.
My night in review-
5:30 pm Leave work
6:00 pm Pick up Kelsey. Meet my friends for Dinner
7:00 pm Arrive at the theatre with my pre-bought tickets in hand
7:30 pm Run into the theatre to get first choice of seats (after arguing with the dumb theatre guy when he tried to make us fill in seats in the other theatre- don't mess with me.)
WAITED
9:00 pm Watched Twilight
Watited
12:30 pm Watch New Moon
2:45 AM Waited in my FREEZING car in the traffic-jammed parking lot
3:00 AM Went to bed.
Did I mention this is a Thursday night? And I have to work on Friday?
Ahhhhh, but it was worth it. ;)

TEAM JACOB ALL THE WAY!
Okay, thats it!
Step away from the keyboard, Tenae, before you punch yourself in the face. Seriously. Annoying.

My awesome work buds- Kim, Bethany, Tanaira, Racheal and Shayna

They made some sweet shirts.

Me, Kelsey and Suzie.
Don't I look bright and chipper for midnight? That's called photo editing.

These boots were made for......humiliation

Today I was happy. Most days I am happy....but today was one of those days when I walked outside and thought to myself - the weather is beautiful, my day went well, I look good and feel good, my home life is awesome and I just had a surge of happiness wash over me. I love it when that happens.
A few hours after my endorphin rush ;) I was teaching a customer service class titled "Stay Real" to the employees at my work. I had the cutest outfit on... a long shirt over a black pencil skirt with black tights and my tall black boots. I was totally feeling confident and rockin' my outfit. I spent one and a half hours in front of these people, walking around etc. At the very end of the class I sat down and noticed that my boots were unzipped. Both of them. And I had on white bobby socks over my tights to keep my feet warm. So they saw my cute boots but also my chicken legs. In black tights. With white socks.  It was great. I loved it.
Fortunately even this embarrassing event did not ruin my happy girl day. :)

I started running again yesterday, yay me! It felt soooo good to get on the treadmill and run. I love the feeling of stretching my muscles and letting my stress go. It is a good time for me to clear my head. I am determined to keep up the running and am looking forward to the sore muscles going away.
I am about finished reading the Book of Mormon from front to back. For the first time. I know, it's sad that I haven't read it already but better now than never. I my goal is to finish by Thanksgiving and then start over with the kids.

A few days ago I had one of those mornings where I tried on about 20 outfits and I just couldn't find an outfit that I could "rock" that day. After 30 minutes I finally picked something out and as my husband is walking out the door he says- Is that a pregnant lady shirt? I don't care HOW stylish your shirt is, if someone says you look pregnant in it...and you are not pregnant or even thinking about being pregnant, the shirt will be banned to the back of the closet until further notice. And then I had to start the whole selection process again. Love you honey!

And lastly-

Jar of Peanut Butter - $4.00
Pack of Gum - $1.29

Laughing at your husband while he is smearing peanut butter in his hair and down his arm because he went to sleep with gum in his mouth - PRICELESS
..especially after he just got mad at one of the kids for doing the same thing!

Legally Blonde on a bike......except I'm brunette

Kenny and I went out on a date a week ago. It was such a perfect night out! We took the motorcycle so I had to make special adjustments. Choosing ones wardrobe for a bike ride is serious business. Let's see..... Leather pants...no. Leather vest with nothing underneath....no. Black bandanna....no. Pink bandanna....check. Yellow shirt....check check. If you don't cover your hair it goes wild and no amount of conditioner is gonna get those tangles out so pink bandanna it is. When I came out and asked Kenny how I looked. He laughed.
The POW MIA Motorcycle Rally was going on in town that weekend and there were bikers everywhere. I mean REAL bikers.
I love the movie Legally Blonde. Elle Woods is one of my favorite characters. When she goes to Harvard and is all dressed up in her pink sparkle outfits everyone stares at her like she is crazy. That is kinda what it was like to drive around that night. These tough bikers would watch us ride past them with bewildered expressions. I kept telling Kenny they just liked my cheerful colors and that's why they were staring.....or maybe they were going to beat us up. Did I mention REAL BIKERS?
Seriously, it was a great night and I did catch a few smiles and chuckles as I waved to my fellow biker folk. I love riding around on a summer evening. I love the different smells that are in the air. The sweet smell of cut grass. The smell of sprinkler water on hot pavement, the cool musty smell by the canal banks. The smell of diesel exhaust....yes I'm talking to you Mr.tough guy in the truck that gunned it in the underpass right before us. Thank you for the gas cloud of death.
After dinner, ice cream and a movie we headed home. Putting proper hair care precautions aside I shook my hair out and let the wind blow through it. It was exhilarating.

~ I am Biker Chick ~

Kenny and I went on a get away this weekend. The last hurrah of the summer. We took a bike trip to Logan UT. We met up with our friends Kevin and Sue Rowe. Before heading out the next morning to make our ride, we stopped at the store so I could buy a bandana to keep the wind out of my hair. I chose a pink one that matched with my shirt. I went into the bathroom to try and put it on. When I came out of the restroom the laughter told me what I had been thinking while looking in the mirror. They thought I looked like a cancer patient. I am sure the color of the bandana had a lot to do with it. After a lot of teasing, we headed out to make the loop. We rode up Logan canyon, down into Bear Lake, up to Minnetonka Cave and then down Immigration Pass back to Logan. It was a beautiful drive. By the time we got back to the hotel my bum was VERY sore. I have found that Kenny and I need that little time away about every 3 months. It is such a good way to re-energize and connect as a couple again. We are both so busy and sometimes it feels like we are just roommates. It is nice to remember why we are together. We had lots of laughs with our friends and made some great memories. Kevin PhotoShopped some tattoo's on us. Dont I make a good Biker Chick? LOL
