ISU Open House

One of my accounts at work is Idaho State University.  Every December the hotel hosts an Open House luncheon for all my ISU clients.  I really enjoy this chance to meet with each of them and thank them for their business.  I have an amazing team in the sales office and I appreciate all their hard work to make sure this event goes off smoothly.

Let me introduce you to a 2012 Idaho Business Review Woman of the Year, Jenalee Crawford.  Jenalee hired me back in the day and helped me begin my career in hospitality.  She is my mentor and friend.  Love her. ♥

Next up, the Highland Trouveres.  I love this first picture of Kelsey, front and center.

Why I was not meant to be a Bobble Head

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!  I was loading Kelsey’s video and found this one. I forgot I had this.  It’s from 3 years ago when my boss, Jenalee and I attended the Idaho Conference on Recreation and Tourism.  As you can see I have a hard time staying attached to my body.  I just bobble all over the place.  Enjoy a good laugh at my expense.

Brass Rail Steakhouse

There was a large restaurant renovation project going on at my work from Jan-Mar.  After lots of ideas and hard work we held a Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours where we had the Grand Re-Opening.  My awesome sales team put a lot of time and work into advertising for our big event. We had the largest turnout EVER at a Business After Hours in Pocatello.  Over 500 people attended.  It was a huge success!! We had an amazing team working to get this project done.  A special thank you goes to Jason and Mickenzie.   Here are some fun pictures of the event.

Dancing with the Stars

I have been involved with the Leadership Pocatello program for several years.  Each year the current class plans and carries out a fundraising event.  This year they chose a Dancing with the Stars theme.  I was asked to be a judge. The event was held at my hotel and was such a blast.  Two of my Leadership friends, Stan and Rob, were also judges.  None of us had any dance experience, we were just there for the entertainment factor.  Stan and Rob both dressed up and spoke with accents.  They were hilarious. Many local celebrities were recruited to compete.  As with any competition, several people got their feeling hurt or were super competitive and got mad they didn’t win….but oh well.  Everyone else had fun.  The Mayor ended up winning.

Star Struck

Working at a hotel has some great perks. From time to time we have celebrities stay.  Last week I was walking back to my office when I saw a guest toting his luggage.  He was looking around for an elevator and was unsure where his room was located.  I explained we didn’t have elevators and offered to walk him to his room.  I saw him come in off a bus and so I asked him was group he was traveling with. He replied, “A group called the Plain White T’s.”  I then asked what he did for the group.  He answered, “I sing and play guitar.”  I made pleasant small talk the rest of the way to his room and once in the right direction, he was on his way.  Now I know who the Plain White T’s are….who hasn’t heard the song, Hey There Delilah, but I have never seen their picture so I had no idea who he was. Well he just happened to be the lead singer. No biggie.

Kristi was having dinner with me at the hotel that evening when we ran him again.  He was very friendly and down to earth.  He signed an autograph for Kelsey.  She was so excited!IMG_1657

The drummer is on the left and Tom, is on the right. Not the best pic but still pretty fun.

February Fantasy and other mushy love stuff.

Every year the Chamber of Commerce holds their biggest fundraiser, February Fantasy.  It is such a fun event with a dinner, auction, band and dancing.  This year I was on the event committee, the event was held at the hotel I work for, Kenny’s dealership was the event sponsor and Kristi’s band was playing.  It turned into a family affair when the Simpson’s all bought tickets to attend.

What a cute couple we make…..

Kristi sings in an amazing band called Kyd J.  I love to listen to them perform and I love Kristi! She is one of my best friends and I am so lucky to have her as a sister too.

We had a little photo shoot inside my office before the show. The faces the camera caught made me laugh pretty hard so I had to include them. Don’t let these hot dresses and heels fool you….there is some major dorkiness going on here  Silly, cheesy, laughing, tossing hair….you know, girl stuff. The last picture is blurry but I love it. ♥  It is funny how much people think we look alike.  Everywhere we go people think we are sisters.  I have even been mistaken for Kristi when we were not together.

DSC_0328

Wait……speaking of February and Valentines and Love and all that stuff……..Here is a sweet note my husband left me before he went out of town a few weeks ago.  He also mailed me a letter that just simply said- I love you. I didn’t get it until he was already home from his trip, but the postmark was from the morning he left and I love that he was thinking about me before his trip. IMG_1647

I love Valentines Day. I love the colors red, pink and white and I love having a day dedicated to letting people know you love them.  I have been so busy I haven’t really had time to decorate.  I grabbed some heart doilies at the store a few weeks ago, found some ribbon I had laying around and made some very simple decorations.  Nothing fancy but it did the job.
