The Most Amazing Concert EVER!!

I like concerts okay.  They are fun. Usually…… if I like the artist. But there is only ONE band I have ever REALLY wanted to see live.  And that is U2. I love their music and I just couldn’t bear the thought of never seeing them in concert before they are done touring. I found out they were coming to Salt Lake and begged Kenny to take the day off and go with me.  I called my dear friend from High School, who is also a U2 fan, to see if she wanted to buy tickets and go.  Turned out she was already going so we met for dinner and they let us hitch a ride to the stadium with them.  It was so fun.  I love miss Nycole Lyman Wescott. How would I describe her…. beautiful, infectiously happy, a free spirit and in her own words, a hippy.  She made me laugh so hard when she said in all seriousness, “I bought this awesome book called ‘How to be a Lady’.” I seriously could not stop laughing.  She told me that being raised by hippies, she needed all the help she could get. Love it.♥

I loved this display in the store Anthropology.  Kenny thinks I ‘m weird.  But I think it is so fun.  That is a cool store.

See the red letters?  That is the occupancy of the stadium.  50,000 people! And the number just kept growing.

And the concert begins………………

They sound amazing live and the stage/light show was awesome. As cheesy as it sounds, this really did fulfill a lifelong dream for me.

I got some video but I was singing along and I get annoyed at myself when I listen. ;o) Maybe I’ll post it because even with me squawking in the background, Bono rocks Mysterious Ways.

The very unfortunate, untimely (and disgusting) Demise of Squawk

OBITUARY
12/25/08-1/7/09
Squawkers McCaw has returned to the Toy Land in the sky. "Squawk" was a talkin', squawkin' and totally unpredictable play pal. This plush-plumed bird responded to Kylie with more than 45 words, phrases and silly sound effects (like whistles and farts). Kylie could record additional words and phrases and then train Squawkers McCaw to talk back, just like a real parrot. He also danced to his signature song, "Squawk, Squawk, Squawk" as well as to other tunes. He was able to switch between speech, dance and singing modes. He will be greatly missed by Kylie and Kaiden and not so much by older siblings and parents. He is survived by many other toys who are very grateful to have avoided his fate.

*WARNING* If you have a weak stomach (like Kenny and Kendall) DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER!!! You have been warned.

Poor Kylie. Her most beloved toy is gone. It really is a sad sad story. Let's start at the beginning.
She received squawk for Christmas last year.  For some unknown reason I thought this would be a great toy for my animal loving daughter.  I soon found out that in the history of annoying, noise making toys, Squawk is pretty close to the top. For whatever reason, he became the most beloved toy of Kylie, and to her despair, Kaiden too. This toy has gone everywhere! She slept with it, took it to school for show and tell numerous times, and she even tried to sneak him to church. He sat at the table as guardian over her food and she even paid me a few pennies to babysit him one afternoon.

Whenever Kaiden got a hold of Squawk, he carried him all over the house. The bird was well loved. It was apparent by his condition... Paint rubbed off his beak, one foot missing, crushed fur, dying batteries making him sound like a freaky, evil, scary movie toy.
Fast forward to the tragedy at hand-  Kaiden was carrying Squawk around last night. He has been potty training and has yet to go number two in the toilet. On this fateful evening he decided he had to go. And when you gotta go, YOU GOTTA GO!  Kaiden ripped off his pants and underwear, jumped off my bed to make a run to the bathroom to go number two and didn't quite make it. What does squawk have to do with this you might ask? Well, Kaiden took Squawk with him and the number two that landed ALL OVER THE BATH RUG was what Squawk was accidentally dropped in, and we are talking more than just a little spot or two.
Long story endless..... Kaiden crying, Squawk covered in poo, Me at work, Kelsey trying to clean it up, Kenny sees it and dry heaves, Kendall hears about it and dry heaves, Kaiden still crying, Kelsey cleaned the mess, Kenny dry heaves all the way to the dumpster with Squawk, Kylie...DEVASTATED.
The family came up for dinner at my work and poor Kylie was so sad. Kaiden was sad that he ruined Squawk. It was an emotional dinner.
And so we say "farewell" to Squawk. (I don't think I can hold out not buying another...she is just so sad about it)

The UGLIEST Thing in the Universe

So, lets imaging that you are an inventor/designer. You are going to make an ingenious item to be used in the home. It will have a practical use and be stunning to the eye. Now I am just curious who the person was that designed this......
I mean who thinks to themselves, " I am going to make a clock in a cube that winds up and plays 'Fur Elise' in a music box fashion. Then I am going to attach fiber-optic lighting to the top and add silk flowers. The lighting and flowers will turn as the music plays."

Kylie dug this lovely contraption out of this car...

This is the junk car that parts are being taken off of. They are then using the parts to build this..

Kenny is restoring a Nova. So anyway, she finds the "thing" and has been carrying it around for a few days. My in-laws come over to play cards and I go retrieve the "thing" to show Cheryl, my mother-in-law. I am smiling as I am imaging her horror and amazement at the ugliness of the "thing". I walk out into the living room holding it and the following conversation ensues....

Me: "Look at this"

Cheryl: " Hey, that's mine! Where did you get that?"

***Stunned silence***

Me: "Um, why on earth would you have one of these"

Cheryl: "Someone gave it to us as a gift. It used to have a dome covering the flowers. I thought we gave it to DI."

Me: "This is the ugliest thing I have ever seen."

Cheryl: " We used to have it on the table in our living room."

We laughed and laughed! It was hilarious. Later that evening, Lisa, my sister-in-law came over. She walked in, saw the "thing" and said, "Hey!, that used to be in our living room!"

If any of you grew up in the 70's and had this "thing" in your living room, I am sorry if I offended you, but let's face it.... IT IS UGLY!
